Gov. Lawrence J. Hogan Jr. (R) said Tuesday it was too soon to determine whether embattled New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) should resign amid allegations of misconduct.
Cuomo served as vice-chairman of the National Governors Association during the year that Hogan led the organization, and Cuomo is the group’s current chairman. Hogan said Cuomo led an NGA call with top White House officials about the COVID-19 pandemic on Tuesday.
“Obviously these are serious allegations against the governor and they need to be looked into,” Hogan said. “There’s no question about that.”
Cuomo has been under fire for New York’s handling of the COVID-19 outbreak in nursing homes and more recently has been accused publicly, by at least three women, of making unwelcome sexual advances.
Hogan said the women who have claimed Cuomo acted inappropriately toward them “have to be listened to… but there’s been no discussion with any other governors about what his role in the NGA should be. I think we’ll wait and see how this thing progresses.”
