State officials say they’ve lost their footage of last week’s Electoral College meeting, and are asking around for recordings of the ceremony.
The Maryland State Board of Elections blamed the lost footage on a “technical difficulty” on the part of the state’s streaming service vendor. That vendor reportedly couldn’t capture or locate the footage, according to an email sent to Maryland Matters on Tuesday.
In that email, an official from the Maryland State Board of Elections asked if media outlets had “access to recorded footage of the full meeting or if you can otherwise assist us in this quest.”
Maryland’s 10 electors cast their votes for President-elect Joe and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris in a socially distanced ceremony at the Maryland State House on Dec. 14. At the time, the ceremony was livestreamed on the State Board of Elections website.
As of 1 p.m. Tuesday, the video was not available on the website. Some clips of the meeting were posted online by Maryland media outlets after the Electoral College met, including WBAL-TV 11.
