Baltimore Fishbowl, the news and entertainment website, is adding financial and editorial firepower and promising beefed-up coverage of the Baltimore region.
The website announced Thursday that Ken Ulman, the former Howard County executive who is now the principal of Margrave Strategies, a development firm, has become a partner and investor in Baltimore Fishbowl.
“I look forward to connecting Baltimore Fishbowl’s readers to thought and business leaders throughout the region,” Ulman said in a statement. “I’ve been a longtime admirer of their work, and know we have a bright future.”
David Nitkin, the former Baltimore Sun reporter and editor and ex-Ulman aide, who is now chief of staff at Howard County General Hospital, will become editorial director of Baltimore Fishbowl. He, too, has become an investor in the website.
Karen Nitkin, a food, arts and travel writer whose work has appeared in The Washington Post, Baltimore magazine and The Baltimore Sun, will become a regular contributor to the site in a variety of capacities.
The website currently has two full-time writers.
“I’m thrilled to be partnering with such a dynamic team. After nearly eight years of steady growth, it is time to bolster Baltimore Fishbowl with new energy,” said Susan Dunn, the publisher of Baltimore Fishbowl, who founded the website in 2011. “At a time of so much media retrenchment, I am proud that Baltimore Fishbowl has attracted new investors and I am excited about what lies ahead.”
