Two of President Trump’s most visible national supporters are coming to Maryland in the weeks ahead to headline Republican fundraising events.
Next Wednesday, U.S. Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) is the featured speaker at the Queen Anne’s County Republican Central Committee’s Lincoln-Reagan dinner. Jordan is a close ally of Maryland’s lone GOP congressman, Rep. Andrew P. Harris.
Jordan has been in the news lately, with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) refusing to seat him on the new select committee the House is organizing to investigate the Jan. 6 insurrection at the U.S. Capitol. Pelosi’s decision this week has been a rallying point for conservatives.
The event is taking place at Fisherman’s Crab Deck in Grasonville.
Meanwhile, the Maryland Republican Party announced Thursday that former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo will headline the party’s annual Red, White and Blue Dinner on Sept. 24.
In an email message to supporters, state GOP Chairman Dirk Haire called Pompeo, who also served as Trump’s CIA director and was a congressman from Kansas, “one of our nation’s leading CHAMPIONS of American values.”
“We need more leaders like Mike Pompeo, and I know that he will inspire us to redouble our conservative efforts here in Maryland,” Haire wrote.
That event is taking place at the Maryland Live! Hotel in Hanover.
