Chanel Branch Sworn in to House of Delegates

It was a family affair in the House of Delegates as Chanel Branch was sworn in as the newest member of the chamber on Tuesday afternoon.

Branch (D-Baltimore City) was sworn in to the chamber by House Speaker Adrienne A. Jones (D-Baltimore County) with a large contingent of family in the chamber, including her father, House Majority Whip Talmadge Branch (D-Baltimore City).

Talmadge Branch read the commission letter appointing his daughter to the chamber during a brief ceremony.

Shortly after being sworn in, Jones pointed out to Chanel Branch that she’s listed above her father on the chamber’s electronic voting board.

“This is one of the first times she comes before her dad,” Jones joked.

Chanel Branch will join the House Ways and Means Committee.
