Forum at Goucher with Alsobrooks and Trone is tonight
The leading Democratic candidates for U.S. Senate, Prince George’s County Executive Angela Alsobrooks and U.S. Rep. David Trone, are scheduled to appear at a forum at Goucher College in Towson on Tuesday evening.
The Maryland League of Conservation Voters Education Fund is the primary sponsor of the event. Maryland Matters is one of the cosponsors, along with the Maryland League of Women Voters, Baltimore Green Space, Blue Water Baltimore, Mid Atlantic Audubon, and Indivisible HoCoMd.
The Sarah T. Hughes Center for Politics at Goucher College is serving as the host. The event will be live-streamed and is also open to all for in-person attendance.
The candidates will primarily be asked to address issues related to climate and the environment, as well as democracy and civic engagement — with an emphasis on young voters.
The event organizers sent out invitations to candidates who are polling at 15% or better in the race. Former Gov. Larry Hogan, who is seeking the Republican nomination, was invited to attend, but declined to appear.
The candidates will not share the stage together. Instead, they will each speak for about 40 minutes, taking questions from representatives of the event sponsors and Goucher students.
The event will run from 6:30-8:30 p.m., and will be held at the Hyman Forum of the Athenaeum at Goucher College. Doors will open at 6 p.m. Light refreshments will be served.
