Ficker Is Focus of Digital Ad Urging Vote Against His Ballot Question

A coalition of progressive groups working to defeat a ballot initiative in Montgomery County that would drastically hinder the county’s ability to raise property taxes began airing a digital ad on Wednesday.

Screen shot of new digital ad urging a vote against Robin Ficker’s Montgomery County Question B.

The 30-second spot focuses on Robin Ficker, the anti-tax provocateur who collected the signatures to put the initiative ― Question B ― on the ballot. It opens with an image of Ficker as a narrator says, “We should vote against Robin Ficker’s dangerous Question B, because we can’t take reckless chances with Montgomery County’s future.”

Ficker’s image stays on the screen for most of the ad, as does a graphic that says, “Vote Against Question B, Robin Ficker’s ‘Bad Idea.'”

The ad suggests the ballot amendment, if passed, would strip funding from the county budget, “forcing cuts to vital services.” Education, the county’s ability to “reopen safely,” and the county government’s AAA bond rating are all at risk, the ad says.

The narrator finishes by repeating what’s on the screen: “Vote Against Question B, Robin Ficker’s ‘Bad Idea.'”

The organization sponsoring the ad, Montgomery Neighbors Against Question B, plans to go live with its website,, on Wednesday. The ad will initially appear there and on digital platforms.
