Biden Campaign Unveils Md. Women’s Group

Former vice president Joe Biden’s presidential campaign announced Wednesday the formation of Maryland Women for Biden, a grass-roots network of more than 700 supporters across the state.

Four women have been named co-chairs of the effort: State House Speaker Adrienne A. Jones (D-Baltimore County), State Senate President Pro Tem Melony G. Griffith (D-Prince George’s), Prince George’s County Executive Angela D. Alsobrooks (D), and Maryland Democratic Chair Yvette Lewis.

“Maryland has a strong coalition of women energized and ready to join the fight for the soul of our country,” Jones said in a statement. “We need a leader who has integrity, believes diversity is our strength and will put families and communities first. As Co-Chair of Maryland Women for Biden, I am ready to use every resource available to mobilize women throughout our region and get Joe Biden back into the White House – nothing is more important.”

Lewis asserted that “women are the single most important voting bloc in politics.”

The group said Prince George’s County State’s Attorney Aisha N. Braveboy (D), state Del. Brooke E. Lierman (D-Baltimore City), and businesswoman and community activist Barbara Goldberg-Goldman are also helping lead the statewide effort.
