Happy New Year — and Thank You!
Happy New Year to our readers!
We hope you had a fun and restful holiday, because ready or not – 2019 is upon us. We hope it’s a healthy, interesting and productive year for you and your loved ones.
We want to thank you, from the bottom of our hearts, for your unflinching generosity and many kind comments.
As most of you know – because we reminded you relentlessly! – we were aggressively raising money in the last two months of 2018.
A national consortium of nonprofit organizations, including the Knight Foundation, the Democracy Fund and the MacArthur Foundation, matched what we raised in November and December from individual donations of up to $1,000 per person, up to $25,000 in all. We’re thrilled to report that, thanks to you, we met and exceeded that goal! In the next few days, we expect to collect a few more checks sent in 2018 via the U.S. mail, bringing our total to $29,000! Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
We couldn’t be more grateful.
We consider your willingness to donate an affirmation of the work we’re doing here at Maryland Matters. And we’re excited to meet the challenges ahead – starting with offering you stellar coverage of the upcoming General Assembly session.
So thank you for your help! We couldn’t do this without you, and we’re honored to continue providing you with independent, nonprofit and nonpartisan news. Please keep reading Maryland Matters and letting your friends, neighbors and colleagues know about us.
We promise to go easy on the fundraising appeals for a little while.
And please feel free to pass along story ideas and other suggestions. We welcome your feedback and support!
Best wishes for 2019,
Josh Kurtz
