So you think you’re a political prognosticator, eh? A budding Charlie Cook? You say you’ve been crunching early voting numbers in Garrett County and can actually make sense of them? Then you’ll want to enter Maryland Matters’ general election contest.

It’s simple — it’s fun! And the lucky winner will be treated to lunch with Maryland Matters Editor Josh Kurtz (we hope this is not a disincentive to enter).

R. Democratic congressional incumbents – Dutch Ruppersberger, John Sarbanes, Anthony Brown, Steny Hoyer, Elijah Cummings and Jamie Raskin – are all favored to win reelection. Who will have the biggest victory margin?

S. Gov. Larry Hogan and Maryland Republicans are seeking to flip five state Senate seats now held by Democrats so it will be harder for Democrats to override Hogan’s vetoes, assuming he wins a second term, and are targeting about seven or eight districts. Democrats also have a longshot chance of flipping a state Senate seat or two. How many state Senate seats will Republicans pick up, if any?
