Senate legislation seeks to create a correctional ombudsman’s office within state government.
For the last several decades we have sat idly by as our jails and prison populations have swelled and sentences have become more excessive.
Those scheduled to attend include retired Chief Judge Robert M. Bell and Carolyn Scruggs, secretary of the Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services.
Recommendations for Brown’s office include creating an ombudsman position, upholding Anton’s Law.
