The Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services and the University System of Maryland plan to partner to provide higher education classes for those incarcerated.

The nearly $9.5 million is the second payment in less than a year. Union officials demand accountability.

Proposals include a way to boost employment in law enforcement and provide faster access to money for families whose loved ones were a victim of a crime.

The findings are separate from a $13 million settlement with the U.S. Department of Labor involving wage theft related to overtime.

The 120-page document stems from state legislation approved by lawmakers in 2017 during former Gov. Larry Hogan’s administration.

Latest round of announcements includes three state government veterans and an official from the Department of Defense.
