Report: These Md. Schools Prepare Students Best For College

MARYLAND — A new report by Niche.com, which crunches all kinds of data, especially involving schools, has released a new list for 2019 that shows which schools are the best at preparing students for college. The top school in the country is Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology in Alexandria, Virginia.

The report looks at what it says are the top public and private schools in Maryland when it comes to helping students excel in college. All of the top 75 schools received either an A+ or A for their overall ranking on the topic, according to Niche.com.

So how did Niche.com determine which schools are the best at preparing students for college?

According to Niche.com, “The 2019 Best College Prep Public High Schools is based on rigorous analysis of data from the U.S. Department of Education along with test scores, college data, and ratings collected from millions of Niche users. Learn where our data comes from.”

Niche.com is a big fan of both public and private schools in Maryland as the top 15 schools are pretty evenly split with seven private schools and eight public schools. Holton-Arms School, a private institution in Bethesda, tops the list, while Poolesville High School in Montgomery County, a public school, is No. 2 on the list.
