Municipal Leaders Endorse Ivey’s Bid for District 4 House Seat
Fifteen municipal leaders from Prince George’s County endorsed Glenn F. Ivey’s bid for Congress on Wednesday.
“During this tumultuous time on Capitol Hill, we need a representative who has extensive experience in Congress, and will be an independent voice for municipalities,” said District Heights Mayor Johnathan Medlock in a statement.

A former two-term Prince George’s state’s attorney, Ivey (D) served as chief counsel to then-Senate Democratic Leader Tom Daschle of South Dakota, counsel on Maryland Sen. Paul Sarbanes’ Whitewater Committee staff, and senior legislative aide to Rep. John Conyers (D-Mich.).

- North Brentwood Mayor Petrella Robinson
Three former mayors — Shawn Maldon of Capitol Heights, Obie Pinkney of Glenarden and Eugene Grant of Seat Pleasant — also came out in support of Ivey.
“Municipal government is a key partner with the federal government,” said Ivey in a statement. “Throughout the pandemic they have been the first line of defense for many Prince Georgians, so I’m especially proud to have these 15 current and 3 former mayors’ endorsement of my candidacy for Congressional District 4.”
Ivey is running for the seat being vacated by Rep. Anthony G. Brown (D), who is leaving congress at the end of his term to run for state attorney general.
Del. Jazz M. Lewis (D-Prince George’s), a former staffer and political adviser to House Majority Leader Steny H. Hoyer (D) is also running for Brown’s seat. Hoyer has endorsed Lewis.
As currently drawn, the 4th District includes portions of Prince George’s and Anne Arundel counties.
