Maryland Matters reporter Bennett Leckrone will be a guest on WAMU’s “The Kojo Nnamdi Show” on Thursday at 12:30 p.m. to discuss COVID-19 relief efforts in Maryland and at the federal level.
Leckrone and Melissa Kearney, an economics professor at the University of Maryland, will talk about Gov. Lawrence J. Hogan Jr.’s $1 billion relief package and its prospects in the Maryland General Assembly — as well as alternative proposals that may emerge from the legislature. They’ll also discuss President Biden’s sweeping $1.9 trillion relief package, which would send substantial extra funding to state and local governments. And they will examine whether these legislative efforts will reach the people who need help the most.
The first segment of the show, which begins at noon, focuses on why the recession has disproportionately impacted women of color.
