Howard County Executive Calvin Ball (D), Montgomery County Executive Marc B. Elrich (D), Baltimore County Executive John A. Olszewski Jr. (D) and Anne Arundel County Executive Steuart Pittman (D) find themselves together often enough, and inevitably they have a variety of common interests and concerns.
But next week they’ll be together at a public event to discuss a single topic: climate change.
It’s the latest in a series of Maryland Democratic Party events designed to highlight the challenges brought on by climate change in the state. The event is titled, “Climate Change & Local Government: Community Solutions for a Global Crisis.”
The four leaders, who were all elected in 2018, have already faced climate emergencies during their short time in office, and all have put together comprehensive plans to confront the crisis.

The conversation will be introduced by Maryland Democratic Chair Yvette Lewis, and state Sen. Sarah K. Elfreth (D-Anne Arundel) will serve as the moderator.
The discussion can be seen Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. on the Maryland Democratic Party’s Facebook Live page and YouTube channel.
