Virginia White, the lead coordinator for the Maryland Association of Counties’ summer and winter conferences, will now serve as the influential association’s deputy director.
White will still coordinate MACo’s summer and winter conferences as part of her new role, according to a Wednesday release, and will also “oversee the full range of day-to-day functions involving the staff, facilities, and vendor relationships for the association.
White has been a member of MACo’s professional staff since 2010 and worked as the director of training & special events with the Maryland Association of Resources for Families & Youth before joining the Maryland Association of Counties.
“Virginia has established herself as a source of ideas to make our organization better, and follows up with what’s needed to see them through,” MACo Executive Director Michael Sanderson said in a statement. “I welcome her as a full partner in helping to keep MACo vital and valuable for all of our member counties.”
Sanderson said in an email that the deputy director position is newly created for White as MACo consolidates its non-policy and advocacy functions after the recent retirement of Leslie Velasco, the association’s administration and finance director.
