Pittman Signs Campaign Manager With State and National Experience

As he gears up for what is certain to be a tough reelection fight, Anne Arundel County Executive Steuart Pittman (D) has turned to a veteran of Maryland and national political battles to lead his campaign.

Pittman announced that he has hired Fred Curtis as campaign manager and will formally launch his campaign for a second term later this year.

Curtis ran field operations for Jon Ossoff’s Georgia congressional run in 2017, and managed state Sen. Katie Fry Hester’s successful run in Maryland District 9 in 2018 against incumbent Sen. Gail H. Bates (R).

Curtis also served as political director for James L. Shea’s 2018 run for governor in Maryland, and spent the 2020 cycle as a battleground states organizer for the Democratic National Committee, coordinating with state parties and training staff in Arizona, Florida, Georgia and North Carolina.

“Fred is a seasoned campaign manager with the skill set to reconvene the coalition we built in 2018, and communicate our positive message to Anne Arundel County,” Pittman said.

Pittman will be a top Republican target in 2022. County Councilmember Jessica Haire, former state Del. Herbert H. McMillan and business consultant Chris Jahn have already entered the GOP contest, and Del. Sid A. Saab is contemplating a bid.
