The Maryland Libertarian Party is hailing the election of one of its own, James Cook, to the Rock Hall Town Council in Kent County last week. He finished first in a field of six in the nonpartisan election, with 153 votes. The top two candidates were elected to four-year terms, and Cook was sworn in on Monday.
A wastewater engineer in Easton, Cook becomes the third Maryland Libertarian in elective office, joining Salisbury City Councilmember Muir Boda and Aberdeen City Councilmember Jason Kolligs.
“I’m excited to see the residents of Rock Hall choose a registered Libertarian, and look forward to the new leadership fixing the city’s drinking water and sewer,” said Kyle O’Donnell, the Maryland Libertarian Party’s political director.
