Shanetta Paskel Joins Cornerstone Government Affairs

Shanetta Paskel is joining Cornerstone Government Affairs, a national firm with an Annapolis outpost, as a lobbyist and principal, the firm announced Tuesday.

“Shanetta is one of the most talented lobbyists I have had the pleasure to work with,” Cornerstone principal Delora Sanchez Ifekauche said in a press release. “Whether she is working on federal or state legislation, she brings strategic focus and deep knowledge of policy and political issues alike, making her a tremendous asset to the team. We are delighted to welcome her to Cornerstone.”

Paskel joins Cornerstone from Navient, a student loan servicer and financial firm based in Delaware, where she led the company’s advocacy efforts on the federal, state, and local levels.

Paskel previously worked as a lobbyist for Baltimore City Community College and as director of state affairs for the American Association for Justice.

She was also a deputy legislative officer for former Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley (D) and legislative director for former Maryland Attorney General Doug Gansler (D).

“I am thrilled to have the opportunity to bring my decade of experience practicing law and 13 years of government relations expertise to a firm like Cornerstone, which has such a stellar reputation for client service and success,” Paskel said in a statement.
