COVID-19 in Maryland Health Care

Nonprofits Seek Virtual Volunteers to Cope With COVID-19

Photo by Chris Montgomery, Unsplash.com You can do a lot of good by volunteering virtually. We show you how!

Maryland Matters readers are generous and caring. So we want to give you the chance to give back to the community in a way that is safe and satisfying.

Innovative nonprofits across Maryland have adjusted to COVID-19 by creating virtual volunteer opportunities.  With our guide to this new volunteer landscape, you could find a way to:

*Give English lessons via video chat.

*Record yourself reading a children’s book.

*Call a lonely elderly person sheltering in place.

Our list is not exhaustive. And some nonprofits still have roles for those who can volunteer in person (at a social distance). If your organization has a volunteer opportunity you’d like to highlight, kindly email us at [email protected] and we may add it to this page.

Have you helped our community already? Tell us about it! We may publish your response on our site to spread the good news and encourage us all.

Thank you for helping! We trust that by helping each other, we will strengthen our state as we move through this difficult time.
