Maryland supporters of Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders have some seasonal voter outreach planned. They’ll be on a holiday caroling outreach tour Saturday at three high-visibility Maryland shopping centers.
According to a news release from the campaign, volunteers “will be bringing their passion and voices to a song-list of comedic, Bernie-centric, topical versions of holiday songs.”
Some of the songs will address crises facing the nation and Sanders’ policy prescriptions.
“Are out-of-control healthcare and insurance costs, the worst racial, social, and economic inequality in over a century, and the existential threat of climate change really fit for traditional Christmastime and Hanukkah music?” the campaign asks. “Songs which commemorate historical opposition to oligarchical Roman oppressors? The answer is a resounding ‘Yes!'”
The carolers will begin at the Annapolis Mall, from 10 a.m. to noon. From 1:30-3:30 p.m., they will be at Prince George’s Plaza in Hyattsville. They’ll wind up at the Christmas Village at Baltimore’s Inner Harbor, 90 Light St., from 5-7 p.m.
We wonder what the substitute lyric for “ten lords a-leaping” will be.
