New Chief of Staff Named at Maryland Insurance Administration

Zachary A. Peters is the new chief of staff at the Maryland Insurance Administration.

The appointment of Peters, a Mount Airy native, was announced by Insurance Commissioner Al Redmer Jr. this week and took effect July 3.

He replaces Catherine Grason, who left the administration for a new job.

Peters most recently worked as the principal government relations staff member for the Maryland Environmental Service. He also previously worked on external affairs at the insurance commissioner’s office.

“We are excited to have Zach return to the Insurance Administration as a member of our Senior Leadership Team,” Redmer said in a statement. “As we work to provide fair treatment for consumers and welcome new insurance companies to Maryland, Zach will be leading a critical operational area for our team.”

Peters is a former appointed economic development commissioner for the town of Mount Airy, and in 2016, he was named one of Maryland’s “Top 20 in Their Twenties” by The Daily Record.
