A familiar face in Annapolis is hitting the 2020 presidential campaign trail.
Bill White, a lobbyist with Capitol Strategies, announced on Facebook that he would be leaving to join California Democrat Kamala Harris’ campaign.
“As a coordinator on the campaign’s ballot access team, I’ll be organizing in states across the country as we work to elect our country’s first woman president. I’m so excited to begin this new journey,” White wrote.
White previously worked as campaign manager for Sen. Sarah K. Elfreth (D-Anne Arundel) during her primary campaign, and also worked for Sen. Mary L. Washington (D-Baltimore City) in the House of Delegates.
Elfreth wished White a “hearty congratulations” on Facebook.
“Regardless of who you support in the next election, we should all be proud of the people who disrupt their lives to travel the nation, engage voters, and participate in our democratic process. Wishing you all the luck, Bill! Make Annapolis proud!” she posted.
Sushant Sidh, a principal at Capitol Strategies, described White as “one of Maryland’s best young political operatives.”
“While we are sad to see him go, we are excited for him and the opportunity to showcase his talents at the national level,” Sidh said. “Capitol Strategies has been fortunate to have such a prestigious group of alumni that have gone on to lead national trade associations and run governmental affairs for Maryland’s hospitals, credit unions and international think tanks.”
White’s last day at Capitol Strategies is July 22, he posted.
