Mary Washington to Serve as Grand Marshal of Baltimore Pride Parade

When the 44th annual Baltimore Pride Parade steps off in Charles Village on the afternoon of June 15, state Sen. Mary L. Washington (D-Baltimore City) will be at the head of the parade. Washington, the first openly gay African-American member of the Maryland General Assembly, is serving as the parade’s grand marshal.

June is pride month nationwide, and the week of June 10 is pride week in Baltimore, with a series of events – including a fundraiser for Washington on the night of the 13th at Spirits of Mt. Vernon. Among other events that week, the Baltimore Orioles are hosting LBGTQ Pride Night at Camden Yards on the 12th, as they take on the Toronto Bluejays.

Following the 11-block-long parade Saturday, there will be a Pride block party in the late afternoon in Station North. And on Sunday, there will be a daylong Pride festival in Druid Hill Park.
