After a frenetic “crossover day” Monday, and several intense days leading up to it, state lawmakers deserve a break, right?
Well, they’re getting it Tuesday evening, courtesy of a leading Annapolis lobbying firm.
State legislative buildings started looking like a ghost town late Tuesday afternoon. That’s because many lawmakers were hurrying to a crab feast across the Bay Bridge in North Grasonville, hosted by Schwartz, Metz & Wise, P.A. The event is taking place at Harris’ Crabhouse and Seafood Restaurant along Kent Narrows.
The firm’s clients include Baltimore Gas & Electric Co.; Med Chi, also known as the Maryland Medical Society; the Maryland State Licensed Beverage Association; Sprint Corp.; PPE Casino Resorts Maryland LLC, owned by the Koridsh Group; Waste Management Inc.; Volvo USA; the Maryland Motor Truck Association; the Maryland Technology Council; Lilly USA, LLC; and several medical professionals’ associations.
Lobbyists and lawmakers party together throughout the 90-day General Assembly session and at other times of the year. But it’s rare, at least during session, that these events take place more than a mile or two from the State House.
