Two Communications Professionals Become Key Hogan Deputies

Gov. Lawrence J. Hogan Jr. (R) has tapped two communications professionals to join his office’s leadership.

Hogan has appointed two new deputy chiefs of staff: Allison S. Mayer, managing director of marketing and communications at the Maryland Department of Commerce, and Stephen Schatz, who worked in policy and communications positions at the Department of Natural Resources.

“I am incredibly excited to have two highly qualified members of our administration join our team here in the Governor’s Office,” Hogan wrote in a news release. “I know Stephen and Allison will work diligently to serve the people of Maryland.”

Schatz’s and Mayer’s appointments are effective Feb. 4 and Feb. 13, respectively.

The new appointees will replace Deputy Chief of Staff Jeannie Haddaway-Riccio, who was recently appointed as Secretary of the Department of Natural Resources, and Deputy Chief of Staff Sean Powell, who will join the senior management team at the Maryland Department of Transportation.
