2 Consulting Firms Announce Changes

Two companies that are players in the Maryland political world are undergoing some changes.

The Hatcher Group, a leading communications and public affairs firm that largely serves nonprofit and progressive clients, has been sold. Beginning in January, the owners will be Amy Buckley and Amy Fahnestock.

Buckley is a former principal at Reingold Inc., a public affairs firm in Arlington, Va. Fahnestock has worked, among other places, at Booz Allen Hamilton’s strategic communications practice.

The Hatcher Group’s founders – Ed Hatcher and Angie Cannon – will remain with the firm in senior positions for an undetermined period to assist with the transition, according to an email announcement the firm sent out earlier this week.

“We are thankful to have found two excellent leaders who are highly experienced at both communications and building businesses,” Hatcher and Cannon wrote.

“Under their leadership, our talented team and three offices, our mission to inspire change for good, and our firm’s name and brand will stay the same.”

The Hatcher Group currently has more than 30 employees, with offices in Bethesda, Baltimore and Annapolis.

“In the months ahead, we also will edge toward a new chapter in our lives and look forward to spending more time with our families, traveling, and supporting progressive causes and candidates,” Hatcher and Cannon wrote.

Meanwhile, the Democratic consulting firm TruBlu Politics announced this week that it is rebranding and that has a new CEO. Megan Irving Tyler, who worked for TruBlue’s sister company, MD Strategic Consulting, will run the firm on a day-to-day basis. She got her start in politics working as a field organizer for President Obama.

The company will have a new brand identity, logo, tagline and website ( The firm specializes in the production and targeting of direct mail, message and strategy development, graphic design, copywriting, and production of print and digital media.
