The Getaway

Maryland Democrats saved the biggest gun for the last days of the campaign.

Former U.S. Sen. Barbara A. Mikulksi (D) hit several Democratic rallies around the state on Saturday, dispensing her customary fire and wisdom. Martha McKenna, the Baltimore-based Democratic strategist and co-founder of the group Emerge Maryland, which has recruited dozens of women to run for political office, served as her chauffeur.

McKenna reports that Mikulski had just one instruction: “Don’t drive like you’re driving your elderly aunt around town. Drive like you’re the getaway car.”

No doubt Mikulski stole a lot of hearts on Saturday.
