Our Trivia Contest Is Tuesday Night!
Maryland Matters’ trivia contest on Maryland history and politics is this Tuesday evening! It’s taking place in the upstairs bar at Stan & Joe’s Saloon, 37 West St., Annapolis.
We hope you can join us!
It’ll cost just $10 to participate. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the contest begins at 7 p.m. We’ll provide snacks and one drink. The rest is up to you.
Feel free to form teams. Or you can compete on your own.
Here are some of the categories we’ll be asking you about:
— ARE YOU SMARTER THAN A FOURTH GRADER (OR, EVERYTHING I KNOW ABOUT MARYLAND I LEARNED IN FOURTH GRADE)?
— THE WRITE STUFF
— LADIES FIRST
— CHARMED, I’M SURE!
— LIGHTS, CAMERA, ACTION!
— NAPTOWN
— SPORTS
— EAT, DRINK & BE MERRY
— MISCELLANEOUS
And who knows? There could be a few others.
To get you in practice, we’ve been asking a trivia question each day. Here’s the question we posted Friday:
This Montgomery County town become the “U.S. Capital for a Day” after the British burned Washington, D.C., during the War of 1812, forcing President James Madison and some of his Cabinet members to flee the city.
The answer: Brookeville
Now the next question:
This Frederick brewery is known for its edgy beer names and label art drawn by Hunter S. Thompson illustrator Ralph Steadman.
Check this space Tuesday for the answer — and the next question! And please make plans to join us on the 27th!
